Gun Barrel City, TX — Henderson County deputies recovered a stolen pickup and arrested two people after a pursuit and a search through woods and pasture.
The truck was reported stolen to Brownsboro police yesterday morning. ALPR cameras showed it travel through Athens and into Gun Barrel City.
About 2:30 p.m., K9 Deputy Edwin Rodriguez found the pickup in the 1000 block of East Main Street. When he tried to stop it, the driver fled at a high rate of speed through neighborhoods near Bonita Point, then went off-road toward a creek bed, where the truck got stuck. Both occupants ran into woods near the Tamarack Subdivision.
A county drone operated by K9 Deputy Jarod Mills helped from the air while Rodriguez and K9 Valco tracked from the abandoned truck. For about 30 minutes, Valco worked through brush, mud, a creek bed, and pasture.
Deputies found Joshua Paul Richardson and Bobbie Ann Wooten hiding in a pasture and took them into custody without further incident. Officials said Richardson is a wanted fugitive. Suspected methamphetamine was found in the truck.
Richardson was booked on:
• Evading arrest/detention with a vehicle
• Evading arrest/detention on foot with a previous conviction
• Possession of a controlled substance
• a parole warrant
• Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
Wooten was booked on:
• Evading arrest/detention on foot
• Possession of a controlled substance
Texas DPS, Gun Barrel City police, Payne Springs police, Eustace ISD police, and Eustace police assisted.
Both are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
