Harris County, TX — A man has been arrested after traveling to meet someone he believed was a child for sexual activity, Constable Mark Herman’s Precinct 4 Office said.
Criminal Investigations Division detectives recently ran an undercover online chat operation targeting adults seeking to meet children. Investigators posed as juveniles on social media.
On August 18, 2026, Maximiano Torres communicated online with a person he believed was a juvenile, who was actually an undercover constable. He then traveled to an undisclosed location in north Harris County, where investigators arrested him.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted a charge of online solicitation of a minor. Torres was booked into the Harris County Jail. An ICE detainer has been placed on him, and he is awaiting bond out of the 176th District Court.
“My Office maintains a firm stance against persons who prey on our children,” Constable Herman said.
Torres is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
