Marshall, TX — A former Marshall ISD teacher’s aide has been indicted on an injury-to-a-child charge after a May incident at Marshall Early Childhood Center.
A grand jury indicted Rachel Ann Kirspel, 37, in July. The indictment alleges that on May 18 she intentionally and knowingly caused bodily injury to a child by hanging the child upside down by the feet and hitting her head.
Kirspel was arrested after the incident, booked into the Harrison County Jail, and later released. Marshall ISD said it investigated, referred the case to Child Protective Services and the Texas Education Agency, and that the investigation led to her termination and arrest.
The child’s parent, Wayana Darty Williams, later described the incident on Facebook and said an employee who was supposed to protect the child had harmed her.
Kirspel is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
