Brenham, TX — A Brenham traffic stop last week led to the seizure of about 18 kilograms of methamphetamine and the arrest of three men.
On August 14, 2026, Sgt. Ha and K9 Maki stopped a vehicle on W. Main Street near Munz Street. Officers said the occupants’ statements did not add up. Maki then did a free-air sniff and alerted, giving probable cause to search.
Ha and investigators from the department’s DICE Unit found about 18 kilograms of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
Arrested and charged with manufacture or delivery of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, 400 grams or more, were:
• David Cantu, 42, of Hutto
• Mark Sosa, 40, of Austin
• Michael Ponce, 61, of Manor
A search after Ponce’s arrest also found about 7 grams of cocaine on him. He had an active Pardons and Paroles warrant for possession of a dangerous drug and was also charged with possession of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams.
All three were booked into the Washington County Jail. They are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
