Arlington, TX — A Tarrant County jury has convicted Sundall Barnes, 23, of murder and a judge sentenced him to life in prison.

On August 30, 2024, Barnes shot and killed Zoin Hodges, 20, outside the Shady Grove Car Wash in Arlington, the district attorney’s office said. Several casings and a brown cigar were found near Hodges’ body.

A week later, Barnes was arrested during a traffic stop with a firearm later linked to those casings. DNA also linked him to the cigar, prosecutors said.

“Zoin was not just a victim. He was kind, a good person – and had a family that loved him,” Hodges’ mother said at sentencing.

Arlington police Detective Tracey Dixon investigated the case.
