Marble Falls, TX — The City of Marble Falls says the Thunder Rock sports complex will stay closed to the public until remaining work is finished and the city formally accepts it.
Officials said the complex may look substantially complete from the outside, but the city cannot take it over until it determines the project was built to the development agreement, city codes, and other construction requirements.
A city review found work that still needs to be completed. Under the agreement, the developer is responsible for delivering a finished complex. The city said that protects public safety and keeps taxpayers from paying to finish work that is the developer’s job.
City legal counsel is working with the developer to resolve the issues without adding costs for local taxpayers, officials said.
“We understand the community is eager to see this facility open, and we are just as eager to make that happen,” City Manager Caleb Kraenzel said. “However, our responsibility is to ensure the project is completed as agreed before it is accepted by the City.”
