Buna, TX — A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on two warrants for abandoning or endangering a child after investigators said two young children were found alone in the street.

On August 20, 2026, Jessika Wilson was arrested at a residence in Call on two state jail felony warrants, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said.

The investigation began about 9:30 p.m. on July 1, when a driver on County Road 758 in Buna reported finding two children in the street. A 6-year-old was carrying a 6-month-old sibling and told the caller she believed her babysitter was dead.

The caller, deputies, and other witnesses went to a nearby home, where they found Wilson, the babysitter, unconscious inside. Family members took custody of the children because their mother was out of town. Wilson was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators later said medical records confirmed she was extremely intoxicated at the time. She is being held in the Jasper County Jail.

Wilson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
