Houston, TX — Houston police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect accused of attempting to rob a man at gunpoint before later firing at a Harris County Precinct 2 deputy.
According to the Houston Police Department’s Robbery Division, the incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. July 17 at a car wash in the 10800 block of Sabo Road.
Police said the victim had pulled into a stall and was rinsing his vehicle when a young man approached him, pointed a weapon at him and demanded money.
The victim reportedly did not have money on him and reached toward the driver’s door to retrieve his wallet from inside the vehicle. An altercation followed, and the suspect fled on foot.
A Harris County Precinct 2 deputy who heard the altercation from across the street spotted the suspect running northbound on Sabo Road and followed him, according to HPD.
Police said the suspect stopped, fired at the deputy and continued running into a nearby apartment complex, where the deputy lost sight of him.

Investigators have released two forensic sketches of the suspect.
