Groveton, TX — The Groveton Volunteer Fire Department is recognizing volunteer firefighter and Groveton City Councilman Chase Hester for his continued service to the community and the example he is setting for the next generation.
According to the department, Hester works out of town for several days at a time but returns home and dedicates part of his time off to serving as a volunteer firefighter. He also serves the community as a member of the Groveton City Council.
The department highlighted another important part of Hester’s life — being a father to his son, Slade, who has already developed an interest in fire trucks and has spent time at the station watching his father serve.
Groveton VFD noted that the department currently has three father-and-son teams serving together, pointing to Hester and his son as another example of how traditions of community service can begin with one generation setting an example for the next.
The department thanked Hester for the many roles he holds in Groveton and for continuing to serve his community while setting an example for his son.
