Texas City, TX — A Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force operation led to the seizure of a large quantity of fentanyl and other contraband from a Texas City residence located near local schools, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 18, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of Appomattox Drive. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team conducted the tactical entry in support of the operation.

Detectives reported seizing:

• 1 kilogram of fentanyl pills
• 26 ounces of THC wax
• 4.25 pounds of marijuana
• 102 grams of THC vape products
• 269 ounces of promethazine
• 45 bottles of liquor allegedly being sold to underage individuals

Authorities said the fentanyl pills were brightly colored and made to resemble ecstasy or MDMA pills. Testing reportedly returned positive results for fentanyl.

Investigators identified the target of the investigation as 50-year-old Jahml McDonald of Texas City.

McDonald was charged with:

• Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, more than 400 grams
• Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2, more than 200 grams but less than 400 grams

His total bond was set at $1 million.

The Sheriff’s Office said the residence was located near local schools and that investigators found evidence indicating minors were among those purchasing drugs at the location.

Charges are accusations, and McDonald is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
