Harris County, TX — A driver accused of refusing to stop for deputies after being clocked at 84 mph in a 65 mph zone was arrested following a pursuit on the South Sam Houston Tollway, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 2.
Deputies with the Toll Road Division were on patrol when they observed the speeding vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Precinct 2 said the driver failed to stop after deputies activated their emergency equipment, leading to a pursuit lasting more than two miles.
The vehicle eventually stopped in the 7000 block of South Sam Houston Tollway East near Telephone Road, where deputies detained the driver.
The driver was identified as 30-year-old Kaelond Thomas. According to Precinct 2, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted an evading charge against Thomas.
Thomas was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center and booked.
Charges are accusations, and Thomas is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
