Hidalgo County, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety is searching for a driver after a motorcyclist was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash early Thursday near Elsa.
The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. on FM 88, south of Mile 20.
According to DPS, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on FM 88 and slowed to turn into a private drive when a gray Dodge Durango traveling behind it failed to control its speed and struck the motorcycle from behind.
Authorities said the driver of the Durango did not stop and fled the scene.
DPS troopers later located the Dodge on Mile 19, east of FM 88 and near the crash scene.
The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. His identity was not released in the information provided.
