Cy-Fair, TX — Cy-Fair Fire Department crews battled multiple back-to-back working fires Wednesday while operating in triple-digit heat, requiring a coordinated response across the department and assistance from neighboring agencies.
While frontline crews worked the fires, support divisions helped keep operations moving. The department said its Quartermaster Division delivered fresh gear and additional rehabilitation resources, while the Maintenance Division worked to keep air-conditioning units on rehabilitation trucks operational.
EMS personnel continuously restocked water and Gatorade for crews, while the Communications Division managed incoming calls, multiple active fire incidents and mutual-aid station coverage.
PIO Lt. Eddie Cruz also worked with more than six media outlets to provide updates throughout the incidents.
Harris County ESD 48 and Westlake Fire Department assisted crews at the final fire. Klein Fire Department, Spring Creek Fire Department and Cypress Creek Fire Department provided station coverage.
Deputy Chief Zach Maher said the response demonstrated how every division plays a role in keeping firefighters safe, supported and able to operate during demanding incidents.
