Crandall, TX — A Crandall ISD high school football player was airlifted to a hospital after suffering an injury during practice Wednesday, marking the second serious medical emergency involving a Texas high school football player during practice this month.
Crandall ISD has not released the student’s identity, condition or details about the nature of the injury.
“Our thoughts are with the student and the student’s family. We ask our community to respect their privacy at this time,” the district said.
The incident comes less than two weeks after Lake Travis High School football player Odin Hensley suffered a medical emergency during practice on August 10. Hensley was airlifted to a hospital and died two days later.
Lake Travis announced Wednesday that it would cancel its season opener against Dripping Springs following Hensley’s death.
Crandall ISD has not indicated when additional information about its injured student may be released.
