China Spring, TX — China Spring volunteer firefighters were dispatched this afternoon to a grass fire that quickly grew large enough for first-arriving units to call for more help.
The department responded with Brush 414, Brush 415, Brush 416, Brush 417, Tanker 411, Rescue 411, and 17 personnel. The Texas A&M Forest Service reported about 40 acres burned across several locations from Old Ranch Road to Markum Ranch Road.

Officials said the coordinated response helped keep the fire from getting worse.
