Texas — Texas Game Wardens have promoted Chase McAninch to major of the Texas Game Warden Training Center.
McAninch, a Central Texas native, interned with game wardens in the Brownwood district in 2008 after riding along during college. He graduated from Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, then completed the McLennan Community College Law Enforcement Academy.
His law enforcement career started in 2009 as a Waco police officer. In 2011, he graduated from the Texas Game Warden Academy as a member of the 56th cadet class and was stationed in Montague County.
He was promoted to lieutenant at the training center in 2019, serving as lead instructor for the field training officer program, penal code, criminal investigations, and standardized field sobriety testing. He became captain of the training center in 2022.
“I’m eager to continue my journey in training our future game wardens to support and serve our fellow Texans in the outdoors and wherever the need arises,” McAninch said.
