Corpus Christi, TX — A 39-year-old Beeville man has been sentenced to 90 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas.
William Wilson III pleaded guilty May 19. U.S. District Judge David Morales sentenced Wilson to 90 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
The case stems from a January 9 incident in which authorities observed Wilson riding a motorcycle at 96 mph in a 75 mph zone. After emergency lights were activated, Wilson moved into the right lane but failed to stop, leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit.
The pursuit ended when Wilson lost control of the motorcycle and crashed near the San Patricio-Bee County line.
Authorities said a fully loaded pistol was discovered in Wilson’s jacket pocket while they waited for an ambulance. A subsequent search of his backpack uncovered 48.6 grams of methamphetamine and two fully loaded .38-caliber magazines. Authorities also found approximately 3.43 grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket.
Wilson remains in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
