Harris County, TX — A 32-year-old man was arrested on a DWI charge after deputies said a reported impaired-driving incident ended with his vehicle in a ditch along the South Sam Houston Tollway East.
According to Harris County Constable Precinct 2, deputies were dispatched after a caller reported following a possible intoxicated driver who was failing to maintain a single lane. The caller continued following the vehicle until it drove into a ditch.
Deputies arrived and identified the driver as Carlos Castillo. Precinct 2 said deputies observed multiple signs of impairment and Castillo admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages before driving.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted, and deputies determined Castillo was impaired and unable to safely operate the vehicle.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and authorities obtained and executed a warrant for a specimen. DWI charges were accepted against Castillo, who was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
Safety Reminder: If you plan to drink, arrange a designated driver, rideshare or another safe way home before getting behind the wheel.
