Burleson County, TX — If “Elon Musk” suddenly slides into your iMessages asking you to donate money, the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office has a simple message: it’s not him.

The Sheriff’s Office shared an example of a scam message sent from an unfamiliar iCloud account claiming to be associated with Musk. The sender used an emotional story involving donations for sick children while asking the recipient to contribute money.

SCAM REMINDER

• Be cautious of unexpected messages from unknown numbers or email accounts.

• Do not send money or provide personal or financial information.

• Report suspicious messages as spam and delete them.

As the Sheriff’s Office put it: hit the report and delete button — and save your sanity.

And remember: billionaires probably don’t need to personally text random Texans for donations.
