San Antonio, TX — A man in his 40s was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being shot while riding a bicycle on the Southwest Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers responded around 11:45 a.m. to the 5400 block of Godek Drive, east of Old Pearsall Road, and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower leg.

Police said the man was treated and transported to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Investigators later learned the man had been riding about a block away when a gray SUV passed by and he heard a gunshot.

Police said the man realized shortly afterward that he had been shot and made his way to Godek Drive, where a homeowner called 911.

Authorities have not determined what prompted the shooting.

The investigation remains active.
