Laredo, TX — A 70-year-old woman was arrested Monday after a witness provided police with video that allegedly showed her striking a kitten, according to the Laredo Police Department.
Officers responded to Saint Peter’s Park in the 1600 block of Matamoros Street on Aug. 17 following a report of animal cruelty.
Police said a witness showed officers video of a woman placing a small cat inside a cup, putting the cup inside a handbag and then striking the kitten on the head.
Officers located the kitten and said it did not appear to have visible injuries. Animal Care Services was notified.
The woman was identified as Patricia Ramos, 70.
Ramos was arrested and charged with:
• Cruelty to Animals
• Failure to Identify
Charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
