Eagle Pass, TX — A 27-year-old man wanted on an assault warrant was arrested after an automated license plate reader alerted Eagle Pass police to a vehicle associated with him, according to the Eagle Pass Police Department.
Police identified the man as Christopher Lopez.
On August 18, an EPPD detective and K-9 officers assigned to interdiction duties received a Flock Automated License Plate Reader alert involving a vehicle associated with Lopez.
Officers located the vehicle, established probable cause and conducted a traffic stop. Police confirmed Lopez was an occupant and had an active Eagle Pass Police Department warrant for Assault Causes Bodily Injury.
Lopez was arrested and taken to the Eagle Pass Police Department for processing. Police said he was also the subject of a separate theft investigation at the time of his arrest.
CHARGES
• Assault Causes Bodily Injury — Class A Misdemeanor
• Theft — Class B Misdemeanor
Lopez was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center on a combined $15,000 bond.
The charges are accusations, and Lopez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
