Corpus Christi, TX — More than $264,000 in state funding is being distributed to Corpus Christi organizations working to address homelessness, including programs serving young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The Corpus Christi City Council approved $264,603 through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs’ Homeless Housing and Services Program.
Of that funding, $209,232 is designated for general homelessness services:
• The Salvation Army — $52,308
• Dismas Charities Inc. Recovery Resource Center — $52,308
• Mother Teresa Shelter — $52,308
• Mission 911 — $52,308
Another $55,371 is specifically designated for youth homelessness services:
• Mission 911 — $18,457
• Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse – Coastal Bend — $18,457
• Coastal Bend Center for Independent Living — $18,457
The youth funding is intended to assist young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and can support eligible services such as case management, emergency shelter operations and assistance with obtaining and maintaining stable housing.
The funding originates from the state’s Homeless Housing and Services Program, which provides assistance to Texas’ largest cities for programs addressing homelessness. Corpus Christi serves as the local pass-through entity distributing the state funds to approved organizations.
The latest allocation also represents an increase from the approximately $217,000 Corpus Christi received through the program for FY2025.
