Conroe, TX — The Conroe Police Department is celebrating K9 Jaro’s sixth birthday while highlighting his work alongside Officer Gutierrez.
Jaro was reassigned to Officer Gutierrez on Dec. 23, 2025. The pair completed K9 Handler School on June 13, 2026, and worked their first official patrol shift together on June 17.
According to the department, Jaro made an impact quickly. Within the team’s first two weeks on patrol, he alerted on a vehicle containing approximately 15 pounds of marijuana and 146 grams of THC oil, leading to a felony narcotics arrest.
Since returning to patrol, Jaro has assisted in seven narcotics-related arrests.
The department said Jaro is known for strong obedience and for working well around other officers. His rewards after major arrests can include a favorite treat — chicken.
When he is off duty, Jaro enjoys playing with his Kong, fetch and tug.
Jaro and Officer Gutierrez also make up Conroe PD’s first female-handler K9 team, with Gutierrez serving as the department’s first female K9 handler.
Happy 6th Birthday, K9 Jaro!
