Taylor County, TX – Volunteer firefighters from the Merkel Volunteer Fire Department and other area departments are battling an active structure fire north of Merkel this morning.
The Merkel Police Department said officers are assisting firefighters by providing auxiliary support, water and additional resources as crews work in hot and demanding conditions.
Officials are recognizing the volunteer firefighters and other responders working the scene for their continued service to the community.
