United States – Authorities are searching for three Indianapolis residents accused of stealing valuables from cemetery mausoleums and niches in multiple states, including Texas.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, Drake Milam, Portia Bancroft and Angela Garrett are suspected of entering cemeteries and taking family heirlooms and other valuables left near urns and remains.

Investigators believe the trio has targeted cemeteries in:

• Florida
• Georgia
• Iowa
• North Carolina
• Oklahoma
• Minnesota
• Texas
• New York

Authorities said the stolen items have included jewelry and other personal belongings left by loved ones inside mausoleum niches.

In Florida alone, investigators are reviewing approximately 20 cases believed to involve the three suspects.

Law enforcement officials warned that additional families could have been victimized without yet realizing property is missing.

Authorities believe the suspects could currently be somewhere in the eastern half of the United States.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is urged to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

The allegations remain under investigation, and the individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
