Fort Worth, TX – Three people were killed and two others, including a child, were hospitalized after a wrong-way crash on Highway 121 early Tuesday morning.
The crash was reported at approximately 1:20 a.m. Aug. 18 near 121 Airport Freeway and North Riverside Drive.
Fort Worth police determined that an SUV occupied by one adult driver was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 121.
Evidence gathered at the scene indicates the SUV first struck a vehicle carrying three people. That vehicle attempted to move out of the way but was struck on the rear driver’s side. No major injuries were reported from that collision.
The SUV continued traveling the wrong way before colliding head-on with a four-door sedan carrying three adults and one child.
The driver of the wrong-way SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Two adult women traveling in the sedan were also pronounced dead.
The adult male driver of the sedan and a child passenger, approximately 10 to 11 years old, were transported to local hospitals and are expected to survive.
The Fort Worth Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will identify those who died.
