Katy, TX – The Katy Fire Department officially placed its new Engine 2 into service Tuesday morning during a traditional Push-In Ceremony at Fire Station #2.
Mayor Dusty Thiele, members of the Katy City Council, fire department personnel and C Shift participated in pushing the new apparatus into the station, continuing a fire service tradition dating back to the era of horse-drawn equipment.
The new Engine 2 is a Pierce Impel Pumper and quickly received its first assignment. According to the department, the engine responded to its first call within an hour of being placed into service.
Engine 2 will operate from Fire Station and serve the Katy Mills area and other parts of the city.
The apparatus also features special America 250 commemorative graphics recognizing the 250th anniversary of the United States.
