Parker County, TX — A first responder serving his community Monday night lost his wife and two children after a fatal house fire in south Parker County.
According to Parker County ESD 6, crews were dispatched shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, to a home on Lake Country Drive after reports of a heavily involved structure fire with three residents missing.
Firefighters entered the home during suppression efforts and located three victims, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
Palo Pinto County ESD No. 1 and Sacred Cross EMS later said the victims were the wife and two children of one of their first responders, who was working at the time of the fire. The agencies also said he lost his home and belongings.
Mutual-aid assistance included the Cresson Volunteer Fire Department and North Hood County Volunteer Fire Department.
The Parker County Fire Marshal’s Office is handling the investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. The victims’ identities had not been publicly released as of Tuesday morning.
Palo Pinto County ESD No. 1 said it is working with other public-safety agencies to support the first responder and asked the community to respect his privacy as he faces the loss of his family.
