Watauga, TX – The Watauga Fire Department announced that registration is now open for the city’s 2026–2027 Citizen Public Safety Academy, which will give participants a behind-the-scenes look at local fire and police operations.
This year’s academy will be divided into two required semesters, with participants completing both to graduate.
Fall 2026: Fire Department Semester
Spring 2027: Police Department Semester
The Fire Department semester begins Sept. 24 and will include eight sessions covering topics such as firefighter protective equipment and breathing apparatus, EMS, CPR and first aid, vehicle extrication, air medical operations, fire science, fire extinguisher training, hose operations, search and rescue, and live-fire scenarios.
The Police Department semester will follow in spring 2027. A formal graduation ceremony is planned after participants complete both semesters.
