Texas – Texas A&M Forest Service firefighters are responding to seven active wildfires across the state as dry vegetation, high temperatures and lower humidity increase wildfire potential.

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the northern half of Texas is expected to experience the highest wildfire potential this week.

One of the active incidents is the Shelby 7135 Fire in Shelby County. As of 6:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, the wildfire was estimated at 30 acres and 30% contained.

WILDFIRE SAFETY

Residents who see smoke or fire should immediately call 911.

The Texas A&M Forest Service maintains a live map showing active wildfires across the state.

Conditions and containment figures can change rapidly as firefighters continue working active incidents.
