Monahans, TX – A 57-year-old Monahans man was taken into custody after local law enforcement officers executed a narcotics search warrant Sunday, Aug. 16.

According to the Monahans Police Department, its officers and the Ward County Sheriff’s Office executed the warrant at a residence in the 2100 block of South Betty.

The sole occupant of the residence, identified as Jackie Dewayne Smith, 57, was taken into custody.

Smith was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, between 4 and 200 grams, a first-degree felony.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and no additional details will be released at this time.

Charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
