Conroe, TX – Conroe firefighters encountered a dangerous backdraft, also known as a smoke explosion, while responding to a residential fire last week.
According to the Conroe Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 10:02 a.m. Aug. 13 to a home at 2520 Eagle Post Drive. Firefighters arrived within four minutes and found smoke coming from the two-story residence.
As crews advanced into the home to locate and extinguish the fire, a backdraft occurred on the second floor. The department said the event happened within two minutes of firefighters arriving at the scene.
Despite the dangerous conditions, crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and bring the incident under control.
No human injuries or fatalities were reported. However, the department said one of the residents’ pets died from the effects of smoke.
