Austin, TX – Austin police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of fleeing officers in a stolen vehicle before abandoning it and escaping on foot.

According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded at approximately 8:20 a.m. Thursday to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 9300 block of the South I-35 southbound service road.

Officers later located the vehicle traveling westbound on West Slaughter Lane and attempted a traffic stop. Police said the driver sped away before abandoning the vehicle in the 9500 block of Bentley Garner Lane and fleeing on foot.

Officers established a perimeter and deployed a K9 unit but were unable to locate the suspect.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:
• White or Hispanic male
• Approximately 35–45 years old
• Thin build
• Thin beard
• Tattoo on the inside of his right forearm
