El Paso, TX – A 72-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a head-on collision involving a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Loop 375, according to the El Paso Police Department.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:51 a.m. Aug. 14 near I-10 East and mile marker 34A at the I-10 East/Loop 375 interchange.
A preliminary investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit and DWI Task Force found that a 2026 black GMC Sierra, driven by 25-year-old San Elizario resident Julian Lujan, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Loop 375 when it collided head-on with a 2007 red Toyota Yaris.
The Yaris was driven by 72-year-old El Paso resident Alberto Gonzalez Juarez. He was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
According to El Paso police, this marks the city's 36th traffic fatality of 2026, compared with 37 at the same point last year.
