Lynn County, TX – A 17-year-old from O’Donnell was killed and multiple others were injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash involving a wrong-way driver on U.S. Highway 380, according to information provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Troopers responded shortly before 10 p.m. to the crash at U.S. 380 and County Road HH.
According to crash investigators, a Nissan Rogue traveling on the wrong side of the highway struck a westbound Ford Escape. The vehicles collided in the westbound lane.
The Nissan driver, identified as 44-year-old Gilberto Torres, was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock with injuries.
DPS reported four people were inside the Ford Escape. A 17-year-old passenger from O’Donnell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ford’s driver, identified as 18-year-old Brylee Renteria of O’Donnell, and two teenage passengers from Lamesa were also transported to UMC in Lubbock. Their conditions were not provided.
O’Donnell ISD acknowledged the loss in a statement, saying the school community is grieving alongside those who knew and loved the student.
