Collinsville, TX — New details released by the Collinsville Fire Department confirm that a vehicle collided with a derailed train early Sunday morning, prompting an extended closure of US-377.
At approximately 5:20 a.m. on August 16, firefighters were dispatched to a reported vehicle-versus-train crash near US-377 and County Line Church Road.
When crews arrived, they determined that a train had derailed and was obstructing both the northbound and southbound lanes of US-377. According to the department, a vehicle traveling southbound subsequently collided with the derailed train.
ROAD CLOSURE:
US-377 is closed in both directions from the north city limits of Collinsville to the US-377/Business 377 area south of Whitesboro.
Officials said no through traffic will be permitted through the affected area for several hours. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
Multiple emergency response and law enforcement agencies remain at the scene. The incident remains under investigation, and additional information will be released when appropriate.
