Brownsboro, TX — A man experiencing a reported suicidal crisis was fatally shot by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Saturday afternoon after authorities said he raised a firearm toward the trooper.
According to DPS, troopers responded around 3:30 p.m. to assist local law enforcement in the 11000 block of Ingram Street.
DPS reported that a trooper encountered the man armed with a gun and ordered him to drop the weapon. Authorities said the man did not comply and raised the firearm toward the trooper, who then fired, striking him.
Medical care was provided at the scene before the man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Brownsboro Police said its officers, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and DPS responded to the incident. No other injuries were reported, and authorities said there was no ongoing danger to the public.
The Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation into the shooting.
