Harris County, TX — A 35-year-old man was taken into custody Saturday morning after authorities said he fought with deputies, stole a Harris County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle and led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit toward Baytown.

According to HCSO, deputies responded around 10:30 a.m. to Bombshells Restaurant at 13700 East Freeway after receiving a report of a man who refused to leave.

Authorities said the man physically fought with responding deputies before getting into one of their patrol vehicles and driving away.

The pursuit continued for approximately 10 miles along the East Freeway toward Baytown, with authorities reporting speeds reaching triple digits.

A pursuing deputy performed a PIT maneuver, disabling the stolen patrol vehicle. The vehicle subsequently rolled over.

HCSO said the suspect climbed out and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended a short distance from the vehicle.

The pursuit lasted approximately nine minutes. No deputies or members of the public were reported injured.

Authorities said charges against the 35-year-old suspect were still being determined. His identity was not provided in the initial information.

Any charges filed in connection with the incident would be accusations, and the defendant would be presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
