Princeton, TX — The Princeton Police Department is clarifying that its officers were not involved in the execution of a warrant during which a dog reportedly escaped from a residence and was later struck and killed by a vehicle.

According to Princeton Police, information currently available indicates the Collin County Sheriff’s Office was the agency serving and executing the warrant at the residence.

Police said the incident occurred within Princeton city limits, but the department was not notified in advance about the warrant service, was not present during the operation and did not respond to the scene.

Princeton Police said its officers were not involved or at the location when the dog escaped and was subsequently struck by a vehicle.

The department acknowledged the concern the incident has generated in the community and extended condolences to the dog’s owner and family.

Questions regarding the planning, service and execution of the warrant are being referred to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
