Montgomery County, TX — A man accused in a child sexual abuse case is back in custody after authorities say he fled Texas twice and used multiple aliases while attempting to avoid apprehension.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the case began July 18, 2023, after receiving a report alleging sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. During the initial investigation, the victim alleged that James Michael Nona had sexually assaulted them over a period of several years.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit began investigating. Authorities said Nona learned he was being investigated and allegedly fled Texas.

Nona was later located in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, where authorities said he was using the alias “Jordan Hill.” He was arrested and extradited to Montgomery County on a warrant for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child or Disabled Individual.

Detectives also developed information indicating Nona may have had additional victims in Oklahoma. According to the Sheriff’s Office, those allegations remain under investigation by the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Nona was released on bond in Montgomery County on Oct. 23, 2024.

Authorities allege that on Nov. 25, 2025, Nona removed his court-ordered GPS monitor and fled again while his Montgomery County charges remained pending.

Detectives continued searching for him and developed information indicating he had traveled to Louisiana and was using multiple aliases, including “Trevor Craw” and “Dusty Crawford.”

On July 27, 2026, Nona was taken into custody with assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, U.S. Marshals Service and Galveston Police Department. He was subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

Investigators Seeking Information

The Special Victims Unit continues investigating information connected to the case. Anyone who believes they or someone they know may have been a victim of James Michael Nona, or who has relevant information, is encouraged to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and reference:

Case No. 23A209127

The allegations and charges against Nona are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
