Beaumont, TX — Beaumont police have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday night as 38-year-old Justin Balka.
The crash happened at approximately 8:39 p.m. Aug. 14 in the 2900 block of Washington Boulevard.
According to the Beaumont Police Department, officers arrived and found Balka unresponsive in the roadway. Beaumont EMS responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates Balka was attempting to cross Washington Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle. Police said the driver failed to stop and left the scene following the collision.
The Beaumont Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the fatal crash. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information is expected as it becomes available.
