Starr County, TX — A former Starr County pageant director accused of sexually assaulting a child has pleaded not guilty, with a jury trial now scheduled for February 2027.
Angel Montemayor waived his arraignment on Aug. 6, 2026, resulting in an automatic not-guilty plea, according to court records.
Montemayor previously served as president and director of the Starr County Royal Court before losing that position following his arrest earlier this year.
According to the indictment, Montemayor is accused of sexually assaulting a child younger than 17 between November 2025 and April 1, 2026.
Montemayor was released on a $50,000 bond.
His next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 1, 2026.
Jury selection and trial are set for Feb. 2, 2027.
