Huntsville, TX — Leaders from the Texas State University System recently toured the Texas Department of Criminal Justice John M. Wynne Unit to learn more about education, programming and workforce-development efforts aimed at preparing incarcerated individuals for reentry.
The visit included classroom engagement with the Windham School District, which provides educational opportunities inside Texas correctional facilities.
Visitors also received an overview of faith-based and volunteer-supported programs through TDCJ Chaplaincy and Volunteer Services.
The tour included a stop at the Texas Correctional Industries sign shop, highlighting workforce and job-skill development available within the unit.
TDCJ said the visit gave university-system leaders a closer look at how education, training and programming are being used to support successful reentry.
