San Antonio, TX — A San Antonio defense attorney is facing human trafficking and solicitation of prostitution charges after investigators alleged he offered legal services in exchange for sex and separately paid women for sex.
Neil Calfas is accused in a Texas Department of Public Safety investigation that includes jail phone calls, Snapchat video and payment app records cited in arrest affidavits.
According to one affidavit, the investigation began after a complaint was made to the district attorney’s office and referred to law enforcement.
Investigators allege a woman contacted Calfas seeking legal help for her brother, who was jailed in Guadalupe County. Jail calls from March through May 2024 allegedly captured conversations in which Calfas discussed two ways to pay for legal services — cash or what investigators described as another arrangement involving sex.
The affidavit states the legal services discussed in those calls were ultimately not provided.
The human trafficking allegation appears to center on claims that the woman was induced into sexual activity through fraud, based on the promise of legal assistance for her brother.
A separate affidavit supporting the solicitation charge cites a Snapchat video dated May 31, 2024, that investigators say shows Calfas with two women inside his downtown office.
Authorities allege the video depicts sexual activity followed by a cash payment.
Investigators also cited Cash App transactions, OnlyFans accounts and references to strip clubs as part of the evidence connected to the women involved.
Calfas is charged with Human Trafficking and Solicitation of Prostitution.
