Pasadena, TX — The Pasadena Police Department issued a clarification Friday after former Police Chief Jerry Wright publicly alleged that internal documents connected to a disciplinary process had been altered.
According to the department, the records in question stemmed from a 2025 investigation led by Wright involving alleged misconduct by a former employee.
Pasadena Police said disciplinary action was imposed following that investigation, but the employee later exercised the right to appeal the decision through due process.
The department said the appeal occurred after Wright had left the department and that he was not involved in the subsequent legal proceedings.
Following a review through established legal procedures, the original disciplinary action was modified from an indefinite suspension to a 30-day suspension, according to the department.
Pasadena Police said the related records were then updated to reflect the outcome of the appeal and cited Texas Local Government Code 143.089(c)(2) as the basis for those updates.
The department’s statement directly disputes the implication that the records were improperly altered, describing the changes instead as updates made to accurately reflect the final disciplinary outcome.
