San Antonio, TX — The northbound I-35 access road near New Laredo Highway was closed Friday morning while hazmat crews responded to an 18-wheeler parked along the roadway.

The closure remained in effect as of approximately 7:50 a.m.

Witnesses reported a strong odor coming from the truck’s trailer. A private hazmat company, Lone Star Hazmat, was seen working at the scene.

The truck appeared to be pulling a refrigerated trailer and may have been carrying beef, though the exact cargo had not been confirmed.

It was not immediately clear what caused the odor or how long the truck had been parked along the access road.

Active Scene Reminder:

Drivers should avoid the area, follow posted closures and give emergency and hazmat crews room to work.
