Conroe, TX — A Conroe Police Department Drone First Responder helped officers make a drug arrest at MLK Park after being deployed to assist with a disorderly conduct call on July 30.
According to police, the drone was the first resource to arrive and began providing officers with real-time situational awareness while observing people under the park’s covered pavilion.
As officers approached, the drone pilot reportedly observed one individual quickly conceal an object nearby and relayed both the action and location to responding officers.
Police said officers located the concealed item underneath debris and identified it as methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was identified as John Allen, 41. He was taken into custody and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Conroe police said the incident demonstrated how the department’s Drone First Responder program can provide officers with real-time information while responding to calls for service.
