Pharr, TX — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized approximately $634,000 worth of alleged cocaine concealed inside a commercial tractor-trailer at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility.
The seizure occurred Aug. 7 after officers encountered a tractor-trailer arriving from Reynosa, Mexico.
The vehicle was referred for a secondary inspection, where nonintrusive inspection equipment detected anomalies within the tractor.
A physical search led officers to 18 packages containing alleged cocaine concealed inside the vehicle.
According to CBP, the packages had a combined weight of approximately 47.48 pounds, or 21.54 kilograms.
CBP Office of Field Operations seized both the narcotics and the vehicle.
Homeland Security Investigations special agents have initiated a criminal investigation.
