Argyle, TX — Firefighters extinguished a grass fire Friday morning near I-35W and FM 407 after approximately 20 acres burned in southern Denton County.
Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 & 2 were dispatched around 8:04 a.m. to the fire near the 76-mile marker of I-35W, at the northeast corner of FM 407 and the interstate.
Crews brought the fire under control and had it extinguished by approximately 8:38 a.m.
Justin Fire Department also assisted with the response.
The cause of the fire was unknown at the time of the update.

Officials said Denton County was under a Red Flag Warning Friday and outdoor burning was not allowed.
Residents were asked to help reduce wildfire risk by:
• Avoiding outdoor burning and open flames
• Avoiding welding, grinding or other activities that could create sparks
• Never throwing cigarettes or burning materials from vehicles
• Securing trailer chains so they do not drag on the roadway
• Keeping vehicles and equipment away from dry grass when possible
• Reporting smoke or fire immediately with an accurate location
Dry vegetation and sparks can allow fires to spread quickly, making prevention especially important during elevated fire-weather conditions.
